The Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre: 60 Unirig hoists to transform classrooms into professional stages.

10/11/2026

There is a type of project that goes beyond technical installation. It is the kind where technology does not simply make a space work, but changes the way people learn, create, and picture themselves as professionals.

Sonus' project at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (LMTA) in Lithuania is exactly that.

The new campus has been built from scratch (former rooms in its previous premises served only as rehearsal spaces) as a fully equipped theatrical environment, fitted with the same technologies found in professional theatres.

The project involved approximately 30 spaces across the Theatre and Dance Faculty and the Film Faculty, integrating audio, acoustics, lighting, rigging, and stage infrastructure.

The result is an ecosystem designed to eliminate the gap between academic training and the professional world. Students do not wait until graduation to work with professional-grade tools: they use them every day, test them, and make them their own.

Our technologies at the heart of the project

Rigging is the invisible infrastructure that makes everything happening on and around the stage possible. It is the technology that allows light to take shape, scenography to transform, and spaces to adapt to every new production.

With Unirig solutions, safety, precision, and reliability become essential elements in creating high-performance, versatile environments ready to meet the demands of contemporary entertainment.

For the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, Unirig supplied Sonus with:

All hoists are equipped with encoder, inverter, load cell, and PLC, and managed by the EASY TOUCH PRO control system - a platform designed to deliver the highest levels of precision, safety, and operational flexibility.

Thanks to the integration of PLC, encoders, and control software, the system allows multiple work positions (target positions) to be programmed with extreme precision, all hoist movements to be synchronised, and previously stored configurations to be recalled instantly.

This technology makes it possible to manage complex scenarios intuitively, improving operational efficiency and ensuring accurate, repeatable movements - key requirements for modern theatrical, broadcast, and multifunctional installations.

The Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre project once again confirms Unirig's commitment to developing innovative professional lifting solutions that combine technology, reliability, and compliance with the highest European standards.

This project is a concrete example of how professional technologies, integrated with expertise, transform a space into a versatile and lasting platform.

Building together

Those studying in these spaces do not yet know which theatre they will set up, which production they will direct, which stage they will manage. But they already know how the technologies they will use to do it work.

This is the most tangible value of a project like this: it cannot be measured in square metres or in the number of equipped spaces, but in the skills it builds over time.

Being at the heart of all this, with our technologies, is one of the greatest satisfactions this work can offer.
