Some events tell the story of a long-standing collaboration better than anything else.
Umbria Jazz 2026 is one of them.
From July 3 to 12, Perugia became the beating heart of live music. Ten days of concerts, packed squares and a lineup that brought some of the biggest names in international music to the city: Sting, Jon Batiste and Zucchero, just to name a few.
For decades, Umbria Jazz has been a reference point for jazz and live music in Italy, drawing audiences and artists from all over the world. In this kind of context, the technical side is never secondary: behind every concert there is a structure tasked with guaranteeing safety and reliability across days of consecutive shows, often under tight conditions and timelines.
The technical partner: ATMO
ATMO handled the technical setup for Umbria Jazz 2026, a reference name in the industry for the design and construction of structures for major live events.
For a project of this scale, ATMO chose to rely on Unirig's Trabes structures, integrating them into the main stage of the festival.
The technical project: the structure supplied by Unirig
The structure was built entirely with F106R truss, the 67x106 cm rectangular aluminum truss in BLACK from the TRABES range, with fork connection and a modular tracking system for PVC covers.
Ø60x5 mm chords, Ø50x3 mm diagonals and Ø50x4 mm verticals in EN AW 6082 T6 alloy ensure the high load capacity required by an installation of this scale.
The roof is suspended over perimeter walls built with a multidirectional structure, and is lifted into position using 2-ton electric hoists, ensuring precise and safe positioning at every working height.
Dimensions:
- Aluminum structure: width 21.8 m - depth 17.35 m
- Modular system with PVC covers: width 21.8 m - depth 21.2 m
The cover had a 2.5 m overhang on one side and 1.5 m on the other.
The new system drastically reduced installation times:
- RING structure: assembled in about 8 hours
- Staggered modular roof, completed with PVC covers: about 4 hours
A result that confirms the efficiency of the TRABES range in major live productions, cutting setup times without compromising safety or load capacity.
A choice driven by the need for a solid, versatile structure able to adapt to the specific requirements of a stage that hosted international-level artists, each with their own technical and production needs.
A team effort
Building the technical infrastructure for a festival like Umbria Jazz means working closely with production teams, meeting tight schedules and making sure everything runs smoothly, even when the stage configuration changes from one concert to the next.
This is where the quality of a structure is truly tested: not only in technical capability, but in reliability over time, event after event.
Being part of the structure that supported a festival of this caliber is a source of pride for us, and confirms how well our solutions meet the needs of industry professionals, even in the most demanding contexts and under the spotlight of an international audience.
A sincere thank you to ATMO for their trust in Unirig and for choosing our structures for a project of this scale. We look forward to continuing to work together on future events.
